TV Computer Touch Interface

Another brilliant invention from Michael James Taylor.

Picture this… the world is speeding along the information highway and as we progress, many of the technologies we come to rely on are intertwining.  You can now use the internet to order goods, you can even check your bank accounts and credit cards while applying for a line of credit and adjusting your cellular phone plan on rogers.com.

But wait, there is one area of our lives which the internet has not really added much value to.  That is television; think of all the interesting ideas that could happen if you suddenly mixed the internet with your favourite shows.

Really this idea was born when I realized that most of the new computers out there are coming with TV tuners nowadays.  So I theoretically can plug my comp up near my tv, run my cable through it and voila!  You have a media center plus the ability to surf the internet via keyboard.  So you’re telling me, who cares Mike… I already know all this stuff and it isn’t anything new.

Well as they say on Cribs, this is where the magic happens.  While you’re running your fav channel through your media center imagine if the tv shows had prompts in them for various types of interaction.  You are sitting there around dinner time and all of a sudden the KFC Wicked Crunch ad comes on… You say mmmm but you have to go out get in your car (or walk) and pick on up.  Now why not simply have a button in the bottom right corner or something that says, order now!  Then you could click your computer media center remote and select it.  Not only is your computer registered to your home address, it is also linked up to your credit card as well.

So really that is the first thing that came out when I was brainstorming but the possibilities are endless really.  I mean what if you favourite cast member all of a sudden prompted you to click on something or maybe that heneiken bottle that is used to prominently in product placement is actually a LINK to heneiken’s website.  Infomercials would never be the same… the shopping network! OMG, like I said the possibilities are endless.

Now if I could only get an audience with Telus or someone who would listen and who had the technology to piggyback digital signals through the cable systems.

If anyone has any ideas you know how to reach me.
