Questions

Where do I produce the most content?
The majority of my work is on YouTube (http://youtube.battleshipcobra.com/), but I have a few courses on Udemy (http://udemy.battleshipcobra.com/) and I contribute on the SAP Forums (http://sapforum.battleshipcobra.com/). You can check my link tree (http://linktree.battleshipcobra.com/) and subscribe to my email newsletter for all of my updates (http://newsletter.battleshipcobra.com/).

Can you help me get a job? Are you hiring?
I’m sorry I do not hire anyone or have anything to do with hiring, please do NOT use me as a reference without getting my permission. My recommendations on how to get a job are here: http://sapjobs.battleshipcobra.com/

If you have SAP Business One experience (or just a passion to learn the system), look up the SAP Partner listing and just apply in the location you want a job. The SAP Partner Finder is here, you can filter for your own location.

Is there a big demand for SAP Business One consultants?
I think there is a demand for good consultants everywhere, just find the SAP Partners in your area and contact them. For a list of partners use the SAP Partner Finder here (there is a filter for location).

Can you help me troubleshoot my B1i mobile app?
A long time ago I made videos describing the process. Since then I have implemented the B1iF mobile system many times and no longer recommend using it. It’s not very useful and almost impossible to keep working properly. I will not answer any questions on the B1iF mobile applications.

My recommendation to consultants is to not implement it, it’s not worth the time. You are much better off with a remote solution to connect via iPad (Browser Access). Nobody needs to connect to SAP Business One by phone. Nobody.

I have a question, what is the best way to contact me?
I do my best to answer questions from LinkedIn (http://linkedin.battleshipcobra.com/). This is the best way to contact me.

How should I start with SAP Business One?
If you are brand new to SAP Business One and do not work for an SAP Partner or customer then it’s going to be very difficult for you to make any progress learning. You need an S-User (from SAP) and then the software (from an SAP Partner) in order to really learn.

If you want to run through the e-learning you should be able to sign up for the Learning Hub (http://training.sap.com/businessone) without an S-User. This will get you started with basic training but without a demo system it will be difficult.

If you search in your region for SAP Business One Partners and you’re serious about learning they might be able to give you an SAP S-User and a demo license. They may perhaps even hire you to do your training if they are in need of consultants. You will have to contact the partners to work this out with them, each one will be different.

If you work for a customer you will at least have access to your company test system. If you do not have a test database you can get your SAP Partner to make one for you (or restore one yourself). But your company SAP licenses will cover a test database you can use.

Once you have access to a system, run through the Learning Hub training and work through the scenarios in your test system. Play with the forms and functions until you get a better understanding. There is a user manual here: SAP Business One To Go 9.3 and there is a general help portal here which has lots of information.

There is no public demo of SAP Business One and I will not provide anyone with licenses or software. Sorry you have to go through the proper SAP channels.

How do I become a better consultant?
My recommendation for new consultants is to constantly learn and investigate the system so you can answer questions properly. Take the time in a test system to really understand how a module works and become a master in exploring the system and providing solid and complete answers to your customers. If you just throw out some guess on the solution that you aren’t sure about then the customer won’t be sure either.

Secondly, you need to listen to your customers, but then disregard their request and ask yourself “what are they really asking”. Then you need a great solution that works with SAP Business One, not just for today but for the future of the client company and then you need to be able to nicely convince your customer on it. If all you do is simply do what the customer wants, they generally do not know as much as you do about the system and they will try and convince you they need X or Y feature when what they are asking is either impossible or impractical. If you can provide them with a solid solution that shows you understand their business but also benefits the users and solves for their main issue you will be much more valuable as a consultant.

I lay out my history and philosophy of consulting and support in a long-form interview here: http://interview.battleshipcobra.com/

Are you available for freelance work?  Can I book time with you?
No, I generally do not do any freelance work. If you would like to ask me questions, contact me on LinkedIn (http://linkedin.battleshipcobra.com/) and if you are not getting the service you want from your current SAP Partner (maybe you don’t even have one) then you could move over to work with me at Forgestik. Contact me to learn more.
